The changes to the plan have been influenced by the 2022 Housing Strategy and Short Term Accommodation monitoring Report. The process is seeking to increase housing choice, housing affordability and housing suitability for Noosa Residents.
Proposed changes are aiming to address:
Expanding Housing Choices:
- Incentives for smaller, accessible and affordable dwellings>
- Focus on permanent rental housing
Prioritizing Permanent Residents
- Restrictions on short-term accommodation in Medium and High Density Residential zones.
Visitor Accommodation in Rural Areas
- Rural Zones, under the proposed amendments, STAs can only occur where owners are in residence.
Rezonings for Smaller Dwellings
- Size proposed to be reduced
- Proposed new definition of affordable
- 2 levels of optional incentives if affordable rental provided
Tourist Accommodation Rezoning
- High Density Residential Zones
- Medium Density to Residential Zone
- Rezoning to Neighbourhood Centre Zone
- Rezoning to District Centre Zone

How to make a submission:
A properly made submission must: –
- be made in writing to np2020amendments@noosa.qld.gov.au, PO Box 141 Tewantin Qld 4565 (you can download the “Properly Made Submission Form” on the right hand side of the screen if you wish); or
- via email to np2020amendments@noosa.qld.gov.au; or
- electronically using Council’s online form below;
- include the name and address of each person who is making the submission; and
- be received by Council before the closing date for submissions.
